North Georgia April 2026

My buddies Jason and Jackson Jones were amped up for our first backpacking adventure. I didn’t know they hadn’t been camping before either.

Lil Sewr had em all outfitted and ready. My retired Army buddy Justin Hansen joined me from Burke. 6 miles day 1. Great campsite at Bryson Gap with a fire ring and a decent stream for water. Justin said there was something big snorting in our campsite at 1:30am. Lil Sewr said I was snoring up a storm and scared off any intruders. I slept like a baby.

15 miles on day to planned to Payne Gap was too much for my group. Poor planning. Jack Jack rolled his ankle and we jumped off the trail at the 13 mile point.

Ready for Virginia Triple Crown y’all, June 2026. 34 mile loop near Roanoke.
